Honouring
Rev. Canon Dr. James Wong
Our late advisor, Rev. Canon Dr. James Wong was promoted to glory on 8 April 2022. Canon James Wong served as advisor to our fellowship since its formation in 1975, then known as the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship Singapore (FGBMFS).
In the early years of the fellowship, especially during the years of the Charismatic Renewal, he was more than just an advisor and was actively involved in organising the activities of the fellowship. He played particular key roles in the three major rallies at the National Stadium in the 1980s, organised by FGBMFS in partnership with local churches. They were the Gospel Rally which featured Korean pastor, Cho Yonggi in 1982 and subsequently, two other rallies featuring evangelist, Reinhard Bonnke.
He also helped conduct several equipping events such as the Spiritual Renewal Seminar and the Life in the Spirit seminar under FGBMFS to help believers deepen their understanding of the word concerning the baptism and gifts of the Holy Spirit. He was always concerned for believers to be grounded in the word of God.
Although an Anglican priest, Canon Wong was always focused on the work of Kingdom of God and therefore, denominationalism was not in his vocabulary. His active involvement in Gatekeepers is testimony of this. He was pastor to some of Singapore's best known pastors. He is also best known as the quintessential church planter having helped establish many churches in Singapore.
Well done, good and faithful servant. A well-deserved eternal rest.
On behalf of the fellowship, we wish to extend our deepest sympathy to Esther and the family.
Blessings,
Georgie Lee
